After I have missed the premier night of “The Thank You Girls” last August 28, 2008, I always waited for this film to shown last year pero bigo ako… I tried tried to research for this film or any blogs for that matter that talk about the film. Well luckily I found “http:// bebsisms.blogspot.com”. My new found friendship “Dam-dam” is the maker of this film. Finally this is going to be shown on the Robinson IndieSine from Jan 21-27, 2009. Here is the poster for this sure-fired-gloriously-funny film:
It is a Visayan film with a gay lingo twist. Tired of losing in all the beauty competitions in Davao City, five dysfunctional gay beauty pageant veterans decide to travel north to Cagayan de Oro City, in the island of Mindanao, with a mission to conquer the grandest competition of beauty, personality and brains in the province. They believe that being city dwellers, gays in the province will never stand a chance against them. And who says gay films are just sex films after all?
Jupiterboi says:
I totally agree… it is about time to see a fun and enjoyable gay film for once… Pwede ba tama na muna ang mga kalibugan ano. Gosh!!!
Not only are you assured of a fantabulous time, you‘re also watching a real quality film. Last October 2008, this film was one of the films in the Vancouver International Film Festival under the category Dragons and Tigers Award for Young Cinema. Taray diba…
While most Pinoy gay themed indie films showcase the cravings of the flesh, this film stood up to the occasion and finally presented a slice of life most gays encounter. It gives us also a different perspective of how gays in the province handle such difficult challenges. Cheers to Charliebebs S. Gohetia and the other actors and staff of TTYG.
As a final note… “Finally… I know how to define Darkness… it is what will happen when you will miss to watch this film”…. Hehehe. Thank You so much…
I’ll leave you guys with the Teaser Trailer of The Thank You Girls:
As we start the new year, I know you are hungry of new Indie films to be shown this month or up coming months. Let me give you f some of the films to watch out:
Aurora: taken from (starmometer.com)
Aurora stars Sid Lucero, Kristofer King, Angeli Bayani and Rosanna Roces. The film explores an intimate portrait of a captor and a captive as they both struggle to survive in the depths of a jungle.
A social worker named Aurora (Rosanna Roces) is kidnapped by members of the Lost Command. After a military raid in the middle of the night, she gets lost in the forest. She walks aimlessly in the thick forest, hoping to find her way out to freedom. She is found by Fadi (Sid Lucero), one of her captors. Aurora tries every way in order to run away. Will she see the break of dawn alive?
Jupiterboi says: The main reason I will recommend this to you guys because the film was directed by Adolf Alix Jr. I have seen his works and one notable factor is his amazing cinematography considering his films are “indie” films. He likes to tackle sensitive areas to broaden our views but never imposes nor preaches a certain principle in his films. He just simply lay down the realism of the situation and we the audience has a choice always to agree or disagree. This film will be a brave exploration in the world of victims of war and difference. I will try my best to attend this one night showing this Jan 19, 2009 at the UP Film Institute, 7:30pm. Take note CCP and the UP film center are the only institution in the whole island of the Philippine archipelago that is not under the jurisdiction of the MTRCB so be ready for the controversial 12 minute rape scene of Rosanna Roces with Sid Lucero and Kristopher King. Here is the trailer of the film:
Karera:
Karera stars Laurice Guillen, Rosanna Roces, Jay Manalo and Joem Bascon with casts like Allan Paule, Menggie Cobarrubias, Soliman Cruz, Kristofer King, Marife Necesito, Arnold Reyes, Edgar Allan Guzman, Mercedes Cabral, Cherry Madrigal, Kenneth Ocampo, Jess Evardone and Moises Magisa
Karera explores the life of the Domingo family, which seems to be a microcosm of the Filipino society racing against time and opportunity as they gamble with their personal choices in a series of complicated moral, spiritual, political and social issues.
The mother, LV (Guillen), runs a bookies (an illegal horse race betting outlet) in their house. Today, the money she is supposed-to- remit is missing. She struggles to look for the missing money and traces who might get hold of it. Ace (Manalo), LV’s eldest, who works as a sota (horse caretaker) is torn between pursuing an illegal arrangement with one of the other trainors to injure the horse he takes care of in exchange for a hefty sum of money that he can use for his placement fee. Daisy (Roces), the matriarch’s daughter, is running away from policemen after an arrangement that she needs to pinpoint all the other illegal karera outlets to spare her family. Bingo (Bascon), their youngest, is impatiently waiting for his girlfriend to have sex with him after a bet with his friends.
What happens is a raw and gritty drama of human survival.
Written by Jerome David Zamora
Directed by Adolfo Borinaga Alix, Jr.
Jupiterboi says:
What more to say but to wait for the announcement of this film. To give you a preview, here is the trailer of the film:
Sagwan: (from lexuality.com)
Coming very soon is a film from first-time-full-length-feature film director, Monti Parungao. The film’s title is “Sagwan” and was shot entirely in Quezon. Mr. Parungao also wrote the script of this film. Aside from finishing several TV commercials for Unitel, Monti is also an accomplished television director having done “Extra Challenge” and “Survivor”.
Jupiterboi says:
I shall predict this film… hmm… filled with fleshy bodies from the “Cappuccinos” the new all male sexy group that is replacing the thrown of the Provoq kings… I’m sure this will be a block buster for the bi’s. I say based on the trailer, the film might have a promising block buster potential for the indie goers. Better watch the director’s cut friendships… The premier night will be on Feb 4, 2009, 7:30pm at the UP film Institute. Here is the trailer of the film:
Talk about Slam dunk… all the nomination of the Slumdog Millionaire won and garnered 4 Golden Globes including the Best Picture, Best Director and Best Screenplay in a Drama Film. I knew this film is going to win… The story is really good guys… better watch this film… For me if the film won the best picture, best screen play, and best director… it is a sure excellent film… I don’t rely on the actors… I rely on the people behind a film… Slumdog Millionaire is a slamming film of a in call center agent in India who is one question away in taking the grand prize in who wants to be a millionaire. When the show takes a brake, he was accused of cheating. He is not a genius so he must have cheated… right… wrong… The film explained how Jamal is able to know the answers to the questions and the journey he went through to know the answers. I have never raved about a film ever since “Life is Beautiful”. The film is a revelation if all the people trying to join is game shows are all really after the money or something else more important like finding back a lost love?
A big win also is Kate Winslet for not only winning the Best Actress… she also won Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Film for playing a role in Revolutionary Road and The Reader. After consistently not winning awards in the past, she comes back with a vengeance proving that she is a THE Best Actress this year. Beating over veteran actresses like Meryl Steep and Marissa Tomei. I watched Revolutionary Road and she is indeed a brilliant actress in that film. I haven’t watched The Reader, maybe if I have some time, I will watch it.

Frost/Nixon might win simply because it is a political movie. Political movies tough to be in a the best film category. However based on the trailers and reviews I researched… Slumdog Millionaire should win. Although a predominant Indian film, the film reaches beyond cultures in the real concept of money.

Watch the results on Jan. 11, 2009 for the presentation of “The 66th Annual Golden Globe Awards” Live telecast on NBC Television at 8 p.m. EST… of course in the Philippines its Monday morning… For now here is announcement of the nominees brought to us by YouTube courtesy of CBS. Enjoy!!!
This year’s Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) will be free-for-all with returning superstars, sequels and, yes, even an animation.
Eight entries were selected to be in this year’s MMFF. Without further ado… here are the films: Iskul Bukol: 20 years after – Octo-Arts/M-Zet Production; script by and direction by Tony Y. Reyes
As they say old habits die hard… so is the incomparable tandem of TVJ or well know as Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto and Joey De Leon. They are back as the Escalera brothers of the popular 80’s show “Iskul Bukol”. Oviously… it most probably will tackle reunions of the cast and their lives after 20 years right. (I’m not sure… but I’m taking my guess). Joining them are Sharon Cuneta, Bibeth Orteza, Jimmy Santos, Tonnete Macho, Kay Torres and Richie di Horsie. Ask ko lang… kasama ba si Miss Tapya… para maka …power… power …power… (ngek… corny)
I hope the movie not only deliver jokes… as expected but also deal with serious issues like the education conditions of our country.
Well to tell you more about the film, here are the Star Patrollers Phem and Mario Dumawal:
Shake, Rattle & Roll X – Regal Entertainment; script from Fairlane Raymundo and Cheryl Ann Narvasa; directors are Topel Lee and Mike Tuviera.
Tenth installment na ito ng original festival horror trilogy na nagsimula noong 1984. Wala pang final cast, although nakakarinig na rin kami ng mga pangalan, like that of Lovi Poe. This tenth of the series will also have a first; there will be a recurring theme of the No. 10 in the three stories like ten friends, tenth floor, and a third ten something. Here is the teaser trailer of the film:
Baler – Viva Films; script of Roy Iglesias and direction by Mark Meily.
At first I thought this is a gay film because “baler” is termed as “house” in gay lingo. I was wrong… Submitted as The Siege of Baler, Anne Curtis gets her biggest break in the movies as she stars in a war-time love story based on the siege of Baler, Quezon noong Spanish era. Hinahanapan pa ng leading man si Anne for the movie.
According to producer Veronique del Rosario-Corpuz, tulad ng mga Hollywood movies na Titanic and Pearl Harbor, fiction and love story but the backdrop of war will be based on historical facts.
The film looks promising. There a big chance that this film will be the best picture of this year MMFF. From the trailer of this film, it already has a commanding message of love torn by war. It has a good cast and good cinematography. I will make a prediction that this film might be the film that will get most of the awards.
Here is the full official trailer of the movie Baler:
One Night Only – Octoarts Film, Jose Reyes
Probably the only sexy film in this years film festival. The film stars Katrina Halili, Valerie Conception, Jennelyn Mercado, Diana Zubiri, Alessandra de Rossi, Ricky Davao, Paolo Contis, Chokolait, Jon Avila and so much more to mention. I honestly do not know the plot of the film so I would rather show you the Juicy correspondent to the talking about this film:
Here is the teaser video of One Night Only:
Magkaibigan – Jinggoy Estrada
Kung may magkapatid before… meron naman Magkaibigan. This will serve as Jinggoy’s tribute of the friendship he had with Rudy Fernandez. At first he doesn’t want to make another MMFF film but due the early passing his dear friend, he decided to produce and star in this film. Joining him are stellar actors like Dawn Zulueta, Maricel Laxa, and Christopher de Leon. Here is the Chika Minute interview about the film:
I think this film might be one of the Dark Horse of the festival. I watched Katas ng Saudi in DVD and the film is actually good. If this film follows this path, Jinggoy might win it again.
Dayo – Cutting Edge Productions, Robert Quilao
Who said animation has no room for the MMFF. Dayo is the first full length animated film ever accepted as part of this festival. Combining 3D and contemporary animation technology, the film explores the mystic world of “Elementaria”, the world of Philippine Enkantos. Join Buboy and Anna as they take you to this world. Joining them is no less than Lea Salonga as she sings the theme song of the movie. Here is the full trailer and interview of the said film.
News Central interview:
Desperadas 2 – Regal Entertainment; script by Roy Iglesias and direction by Joel Lamangan.
A continuation of the story of four women with the same mother of different fathers, the original stars are back—Ruffa Gutierrez, Rufa Mae Quinto, Iza Calzado, and Marian Rivera—with the addition of a fifth cast, Ogie Alcasid? who will allegedly be introduced as one of their sisters. Here is the full trailer:
Ang Tanging Ina Niyong Lahat – Star Cinema; script by Mel del Rosario and direction by Wenn Deramas.
Ai-Ai delas Alas and Star Cinema’s biggest hit on record gets a sequel after five years. Now the president of the country, most of Ai-Ai’s original children in the movie will return save for one or two, most notably Heart Evangelista dahil Kapuso star na raw kasi ang dalaga.
Ironically, the eldest sibling na si Marvin Agustin, who plays Uno, is also now an exclusive Kapuso star but will still be part of the cast. Another brother na si Carlo Aquino, who is already a Viva Artist Agency star, is mostly seen sa GMA7.
Pinalitan ni Paula Peralejo si Heart as Portia. Ito ang pagbabalik ni Paula sa pelikula, just like the now-retired Serena Dalrymple as Cate.
Mas malaki na rin ang participation ni Eugene Domingo as Rowena, giving the two-time Best Supporting Actress award-winner the privilege of being the only major star to be part of two festival movies.
Here is the trailer of the movie:
All entries will be shown starting on December 25, 2008.
Some excerpts of this posts were taken from PEP:… others entirely my words…
OMG… I already featured the said single of Beyonce “Single Ladies” in this blog and wondered how are the other people are imitating thing song and its infamous steps.
The steps of this song were inspired by Mexico Breakfast done by Gwen Verdon. Check out the comparison of the steps in this video courtesy of “chilldown2earth”:
See the similarly huh… well it is cool that some steps of the 60’s can still be relevant in 2008.
The coolest part to see is imitators posted in YouTube. Even Justin Timberlake did an imitation of the said song with no other than Beyonce herself at SNL (Saturday Night Live for those who doesn’t know). Check out the video courtesy of “EmoDrSritoIvanzuko”:
What can I say … is it a sign that Justin has potentials… I don’t know about that but he can surely shake his bootie…
The best imitation of this song for me was done during “The Bonnie Hunt Show” by Shane Mercado. Check out this video courtesy of ”BassCreek”:
This video is the closest imitation of this song. Well some were really of but he was able to pull it off because of his hand gestures and facial expressions. This is so hilarious that I cried of laughing.
Well this I can guarantee, I won’t be making an imitation of this song. I won’t give you the satisfaction of seeing me in sexy clothes with my chubby stomach dancing along with the one of the sexiest woman alive. Beyonce Dream On!… or is it the other way around?
another informative commentary brought to you by:
Yes you heard it right. The controversial Dose will be shown at the UP Film Institute on November 20, 2008. Also showing on the 20th are UPCAT and IMBURNAL. Here are the synopses of these films:
DOSE

Here is the film trailer:
UPCAT Lucas and Joaquin are two teenage boys from the province who believe passing the UPCAT (University of the Philippines College Admissions Test) is the passport to their dreams. While Joaquin’s goal is to get a well-paying job and bring his OFW parents back home, Lucas wants nothing more than to win the heart of his schoolmate Jane – and perhaps her family, all of whom are UP-educated. The two seek help in reviewing from Michael, a UP Fine Arts graduate with a secret. In this light coming-of-age story, Lucas and Joaquin discover some truths about life, love, dreams and shaded circles and a little more about themselves along the way.
Here is the film trailer:
IMBURNAL This is a tale of manhood that is about to erode two pubescent. While hanging out in the crevasses of Punta Dumalog, Joel and Allen both find solitary, dent their friendship and shape their orientations in life, taking about what they witness and encounter daily in their neighborhood. CWtv is the home for the hit series like Gossip girls, 90210, America’s Next Top Model, Smallville and Supernatural. Adding MP will surely be a instant hit.
Melrose place is definitely launched the careers of these stars:

To give you a retrospective feel… here are some more pictures of the defunct Melrose Place:
Just when you know that everything is working fine… the world is literally shocked of the news that Jennifer Hudson’s mom and brother apparently shot to death. Here are some clips of the incident from E online:
Hours after Jennifer Hudson’s mother, Darnell Donerson, and her brother Jason Hudson were found shot to death in Donerson’s Chicago home and a 7-year-old boy went missing, a next-door neighbor tells E! News that she heard gunshots Friday morning and believes that the killings are related to an ongoing domestic dispute.
Angela Russell, who lives next door to Donerson on Yale Avenue in the South Side neighborhood of Englewood, says that she thinks that Hudson’s sister Julia was having domestic troubles with her husband, whom she had talked about divorcing.
Russell also says that Donerson’s son stays with her, “and that is the other person that they found.”
Hudson’s older brother Jason has been identified in some reports as the male victim, but neither the police nor the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office has confirmed the victims’ identifies.
“It has been pretty rough for a while,” says Russell. “We do know that Ms. Hudson’s oldest daughter was having trouble with her husband. We do know that there were some domestic issues going on and we believe that is what this all about. “
Chicago Police spokeswoman Monique Bond said the deaths appeared to be the result of domestic abuse, but she declined to elaborate.
Russell says that Donerson, who she referred to as Ms. Hudson, babysat everyday for Julia’s son Julian King, who has been reported missing.
“She babysat for him everyday when her daughter was at work,” says Russell. “[Julia] was here daily.”
Russell says that Donerson never expressed any interest in leaving the neighborhood. And contrary to crime statistics, Russell says the community is relatively safe. In fact, Hudson lived with her mother in this house up until recently, she says.
“She has lived her for about 15 years,” Russell tells E! “She has a big house and knows everyone in the neighborhood and nothing like this has ever happened on this block. We have gotten pretty comfortable here. Considering the neighborhood, this is a pretty decent block.”
While Hudson moved out, her mom decided to stay in the area she called home.
“Jennifer moved out, but her mom chose to stay here,” Russell says. “Jennifer would always come and visit when she was in town. She wasn’t a stranger to us. “
Russell says that Donerson was a very nice person who was well-liked by everyone in the neighborhood.
“Even though her daughter was a superstar she never let it get to her,” she says. “She was still very friendly with everyone in the neighborhood. The neighborhood kids used to visit her often just to help her out around the house. A lot of the kids used to go over there just to play with Jennifer, Julia and Jason—that is something that they still do on a regular basis. It wasn’t unusual for the kids to go over and play with the baby everyday.”
Russell says her nieces and nephews saw Donerson recently and she seemed fine, but she had mentioned that there were personal things going on.
Russell says that she is now trapped in the house because of the police outside and the neighbors are waiting for Hudson or her sister Julia to tell them about the funeral arrangements.
“We know the Amber Alert is out and the police just held a police conference,” Russell says. “We are still waiting for Jennifer to get here. We know that Julia is still with the police at the station.”
Jupiterboi speaks out: This is a tragic event and I am so saddened by this news. I hate people who resort to violence just to get whatever they want. I hope there will be justice served for your family regarding this tragic loss, my sincerest condolences to Jennifer and her family. I want to leave you with one of your songs in your album. I know you might be down but always be strong coz bigger things will come your way. Our pain only makes us stronger persons in life. You’re a pure talent and truly a invisible woman. I dedicate your song “Invisible” to give you strength to face the challenges these challenges and be a more formidable woman.
Miss B will be releasing her new album I am … Sasha Fierce and they released two singles off that album. “If I were a boy” is the ballad about relationship and the concept of reciprocity. The song interprets a girl’s view if they become a man and what are they things she would do to make a lasting relationship. I am very sure someone in the male perspective will also reply a song called “If I were a girl”. This song is in the “I am” section of the album where most songs are ballads and more personal to Miss B.
The second single is “Single Ladies (Put a ring on it)” is a dance song but expresses frustration of a single gal. For me the songs tell us not worry about being single and just basically have a fabulous life. This single is in the “Sasha Fierce” section of the album was daring and mostly dance songs are presented.
Well the songs indeed has strong points and very catchy. The videos also are very interesting and such a fresh approach to female domination. Well the big question is why the title “I am … Sasha Fierce”. She said that Sasha Fierce is her alter ego where she becomes daring and more experimental. You go girl… hope you have great success as Sasha Fierce.
Without further ado… here are the lyrics and videos of Miss B new album:
If I were a boy Video and Lyrics:
[Verse]
If I were a boy
Even just for a day
I’d roll outta bed in the morning
And throw on what I wanted then go
Drink beer with the guys
And chase after girls
I’d kick it with who I wanted
And I’d never get confronted for it.
Cause they’d stick up for me.
[Chorus]
If I were a boy
I think I could understand
How it feels to love a girl
I swear I’d be a better man.
I’d listen to her
Cause I know how it hurts
When you lose the one you wanted
Cause he’s taken you for granted
And everything you had got destroyed
[Verse]
If I were a boy
I would turn off my phone
Tell everyone it’s broken
So they’d think that I was sleepin’ alone
I’d put myself first
And make the rules as I go
Cause I know that she’d be faithful
Waitin’ for me to come home (to come home)
[Chorus]
If I were a boy
I think I could understand
How it feels to love a girl
I swear I’d be a better man.
I’d listen to her
Cause I know how it hurts
When you lose the one you wanted (wanted)
Cause he’s taken you for granted (granted)
And everything you had got destroyed
[Vamp1]
It’s a little too late for you to come back
Say its just a mistake
Think I’d forgive you like that
If you thought I would wait for you
You thought wrong
[Male]
You know when you act like that
I don’t think you realize how it makes me look
or feel
[Beyonce]
Act like what
Why are you so jealous
It’s not like i’m sleeping with the guy
[Male]
What
[Beyonce]
What
[Male]
I said yo
Why are you so jealous
It aint like I’m sleepin with the girl
[Vamp2]
But you’re just a boy
You don’t understand
Yeah you don’t understand
How it feels to love a girl someday
You wish you were a better man
You don’t listen to her
You don’t care how it hurts
Until you lose the one you wanted
Cause you’ve taken her for granted
And everything you have got destroyed
But you’re just a boy
Single Ladies (Put a ring on it) Video and Lyrics:
All the single ladies (7x)
Now put your hands up
Up in the club, we just broke up
I’m doing my own little thing
Decided to dip but now you wanna trip
Cuz another brother noticed me
I’m up on him, he up on me
dont pay him any attention
cried my tears, for three good years
Ya can’t be mad at me
[Chorus]
Cuz if you liked it then you should have put a ring on it
If you liked it then you shoulda put a ring on it
Don’t be mad once you see that want it
If you liked it then you shoulda put a ring on it
(Chorus)
I got gloss on my lips, a man on my hips
Got me tighter than my Dereon jeans
acting up, drink in my cup
I could care less what you think
I need no permission, did I mention
Dont pay him any attention
Cuz you had your turn
But now you gonna learn
What it really feels like to miss me
(Chorus)
Don’t treat me to the things of this world
I’m not that kind of girl
Your love is what I prefer, what I deserve
He’s a man that makes me then takes me
And delivers me to a destiny, to infinity and beyond
Pull me into your arms
Say I’m the one you own
If you don’t, you’ll be alone
And like a ghost I’ll be gone
